Our exploration services are related to the discovery of oil and gas reserves mainly using deep seismic survey methods. However, the need to make the most of dwindling resources has driven the development of operations such as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). Such methods also require seismic surveys to evaluate the migration of hydrocarbons within reservoirs. Atlas Professionals provide quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) consultancy services for the supervision of the acquisition, processing and navigation or positioning of land, marine and transition zone seismic surveys.
We have extensive expertise in marine towed streamer 2D, 3D, time lapse 4D, Wide Azimuth 3D, SIMOPS, Close Pass and Undershoots and Ultra High Resolution 2D and 3D seismic surveys. We also specialise in Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) and Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) multi component 4C Life of Field (LoF) seismic operations.
In addition to seismic surveys, Atlas Professionals’ consultants have expertise in alternative exploration and reservoir monitoring surveys such as Gravity, Magnetic, Controlled Source Electro Magnetic (CSEM) surveys and Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP).
Land Seismic and Transition Zone
Onshore seismic can be an even more challenging operation, often performed in remote and inhospitable environments as well as populated urban areas. Our consultants have many years of experience in 2D and 3D land seismic projects in hot, dense tropical jungle to cold Arctic environments, deserts and rugged mountainous regions.
Our consultants are experienced with all modes of land seismic acquisition using Vibroseis in accessible regions as well as explosives in the more inaccessible areas often with the aid of heli-portable transportation.
Where the marine and land areas meet in the transition zone can be a particularly challenging environment to perform seismic operations, not only technically but logistically. Our consultants have extensive experience in performing 2D and 3D seismic surveys in swamp areas, tropical mangroves and shallow rivers.
Health and Safety
There are many hazards associated with marine, land and transition zone operations, environmental aspects such as extreme temperatures and exposure, wildlife and security threats as well as working with heavy machinery and explosives. In addition to this, in certain areas of the world there are risks associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) also known as Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) or Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD). For this reason Atlas professionals can provide consultants to oversee the health, safety and security of your seismic operations to guide survey teams and instil a culture of health and safety and environmental awareness in everyone involved in the project.
With a strong focus on the environment, Atlas professionals can provide a complete solution to support all environmental requirements asked by our clients. Our specialists not only have the knowledge about marine wildlife but also how to mitigate the effects of offshore operations on various species and fauna.
Our marine mammal observers (MMO) and seabird observers (MMSO) have extensive experience working on multi vessel operations using passive acoustic monitoring (PAM), and have been strong advocates for the training of local content by our marine mammal scientists. Through the collaboration of our partners we can also ship monitoring equipment to site for the duration of a project.
In addition to our observers we can also provide Fisheries Liaison Officers (FLO) with links to governmental departments and local organisations, providing professional advice to the client about their area of operation.
For clients who intend to operate within extreme Arctic and remote geographical locations, our Ice Observers and HSSE representatives have the experience in advising clients on how to operate in these conditions without hindering the progress of production.
Our consultants also have the expertise to review and conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) to evaluate the environmental and socioeconomic qualities of the site and assess the potential impacts to the project.
We can provide individual QCs or entire teams of QCs and environmental observers on multi vessel rotations. Typical Field Supervision and Monitoring services include:
- Acquisition QC
- Navigation or Positioning QC
- Processing QC
- HSSE QC and Advisors
- Marine Mammal Observers (MMO)
- Passive Acoustic Monitoring Specialists (PAM)
- QC Software
